A discount describes a price. A moment tells a story.

“Take 10% off” is simple. So is “if it snows this weekend, get $15 toward your next visit.” Both may motivate action. The second gives a customer something to anticipate after the transaction.

Make it relevant, not random

A weather-linked promotion can be a natural fit for a seasonal retailer. A sports moment may make sense for fans already gathered in a venue. The event should connect to the audience and the merchant's commercial objective; novelty alone is not a strategy.

Write the plain version first

Before designing a beautiful campaign, write one sentence containing the qualifying action, exact reward, triggering condition and the deadline. If the offer needs three paragraphs of jargon to explain the basics, simplify the mechanics.

Keep the obligations real

The appeal of a possible reward does not replace funding, legal review, customer rights or honest measurement. Those are the things that make the story sustainable.
