The watch guarantee that turns a championship into a second purchase

An outcome-linked benefit can encourage buying now while setting up a later upgrade opportunity.

The business challenge
Companies in luxury retail face uncertainty that can change the value of a sale, a promotional promise or an operating budget. The commercial question is whether the outcome can be defined precisely enough to make a better decision before it happens.
What actually happened
For its officially licensed 2026 tournament watch collection, AXIA Time introduced a World Champion Guarantee. According to its announcement, a purchaser could keep an eligible country-specific watch and, if that nation became champion, apply the original purchase price toward a matching World Champion Edition, paying any difference. AXIA also described a Kalshi-based dynamic hedge supporting the guarantee.
Why the mechanism matters
This is an upgrade credit rather than an unconditional cash refund. The merchant can create a follow-on product journey, but must account for the cost of the credit, the newer product’s gross margin and the contingent event hedge.
How IncentivPay or PMPS could apply
Illustrative scenario, not a claim that AXIA Time used our technology.
For premium merchants, IncentivPay could support a similarly clear, capped upgrade-credit incentive tied to a permitted verifiable event. PMPS could size eligible purchase exposure and evaluate whether the cost is justified by later conversion and customer lifetime value.
What a merchant should measure
- Upgrade redemption and upsell rate
- Incremental first-purchase conversion
- Gross profit across both transactions
- Customer lifetime value after upgrade
Evidence and limitations
AXIA held official product licensing; IncentivPay users should not assume equivalent event or team rights. This is a retailer-announced program, not measured third-party ROI.
